2009 NHL Conference Finals Predictions

With the second half of the 2009 NHL season starting tonight, we have looked at both conferences and we are ready to make our predictions for the teams that will represent the Eastern Conference and Western Conference in the NHL playoffs, and we will give you the opportunity to purchase their replica NHL jerseys after our predictions are made. Later in the week you can read our prediction for who we think will actually win their conference matchups and make the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals, by no means are these predictions deemed to be 100% accurate and we don’t advise anyone to take their life savings and head to Vegas and put money down on these teams going to the Stanley Cup Finals. Our calculated predictions were thought up with looking over who’s played well in the first half of the season and will continue their winning ways and put it together in the 2009 NHL playoffs. We thought about waiting until the Free Agent period ended, but with that being a few months away, we wanted to take a stab at making a prediction the same day the league begins play after the NHL All Star weekend.

The two teams we think will face off in the Eastern Conference Finals will be the Boston Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers. The Bruins will continue their hot play and show the entire Eastern Conference this team was built to win. Their opponent is a team that got out of the gate very slow this year, but their offense led by Jeff Carter is one of the most feared teams in all of the NHL. With Danny Briere coming back by March, we think it will help them even more in the Eastern Conference playoffs and they will be looking to take on Boston in an epic matchup for the 2009 Eastern Conference NHL playoffs.

The Western Conference will put the San Jose Sharks and the Detroit Red Wings together in what we hope is a seven games series. These two teams are probably the best two teams in all of the NHL and when they get together in what we think will be for the right to play in the Stanley Cup Finals, we hope this goes to seven games and that each game goes into overtime. The Red Wings are the defending Stanley Cup champions, and they will look to defend their Western Conference Crown against a tough San Jose team that is riding a streak of a team that hardly loses at home, but will they be able to keep that up in the NHL playoffs? No one knows for sure, but if we have our wishes these two teams will be facing off against one another for the right to represent the Western Conference.
